Stormwatch: Heavy Rain and Wind
National Weather Service issues flash flood warning for Los Angeles region
The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting heavy rain with potential for flash flooding across much of southwest California today through Saturday morning...
This storm has the potential to drop five inches or more of rain in some areas producing rain rates around one inch per hour at times. The storm will be accompanied by moderate to heavy winds with gusts up to and potentially exceeding 40MPH during peak times.
With periods of intense rainfall, underpasses, roadways and intersections can easily become flooded as drains attempt to keep up with rainfall amounts; drivers are urged to slow down during rain and proceed with caution in areas of pooling water and to never drive through flooded intersections or underpasses.
The Street and Sanitation Division of the Burbank Public Works Department offers sandbags to residents of Burbank. Those in need of sandbags should visit the Field Services Administration Office between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00pm weekdays with proof of residency. Residents can pick up as many as 25 sandbags. Businesses are also eligible to receive up to 25 sandbags.
