The City of Burbank has adopted a Tobacco Retailers Licensing Ordinance. The ordinance requires all businesses which retails tobacco products and/or tobacco-related accessories, to acquire a regulatory City of Burbank business license for this purpose. It is the intent of the ordinance to assist in the prevention of illegal tobacco sales to underage persons (under the age of 18 years old) in the City of Burbank . Do not confuse this City of Burbank regulatory licensing requirement with the State of California Tobacco Retailers License which you currently possess.

The license is to be renewed annually and is valid from July 1 through June 30. The license is not transferable if a business is taken over by a new owner. The City of Burbank Tobacco Retailers License is only attainable to businesses in Burbank which have a fixed location and will not be issued to any mobile businesses such as catering trucks, food peddlers, or ice cream trucks.

It is now illegal to sell any tobacco products or tobacco-related items if you do not possess a Burbank Tobacco Retailers License. Compliance checks will be conducted beginning on July 1, 2007.

If you have any questions, need assistance with understanding the ordinance or require an application for a license, please call (818) 238-5280.
