Issuance of Building Permit

A Building Permit may be issued to the Owner of a Residential Property provided that the work is limited to (BMC 7-1a-105.3.4):

  • A single family dwelling of wood frame construction not more than two stories and a basement in height.
  • Multiple Dwellings containing no more than four dwelling units of wood frame construction not more than two stories in height on any lot.
  • Garages or other structures appurtenant to a single-family dwelling of wood frame construction not more than two stories and basement in height.

A Building Permit may be issued to an Owner of a Residential Property whose name does not show on the Assessors list provided: Escrow papers that identify that person as the new owner of the property are presented to the Building Division.

A Building Permit may be issued to a person who is not the Owner of a Residential Property or a licensed contractor provided: The paper work for the permit is signed by the Owner and a copy of the Owners drivers' license is presented to the Building Division.

A Building Permit may be issued to an Agent of a Licensed Contractor for either Residential or Commercial work provided: A notarized letter, dated for the current year, is presented to the Building Division authorizing the agent to obtain the Building Permit as a representative of the Contractor.
