In July 2016, applications were submitted for Development Review and a Conditional Use Permit for a new project consisting of a 6-story hotel, including a restaurant. The project site is located at 550 North Third Street, and totals approximately 38,803 square-feet (0.89 acre) in Downtown Burbank. The project site is surrounded by Burbank Center Commercial Limited Business (BCC-2) zoning, multi-family residential zoning (R-4) and Planned Development zoning (Burbank Town Center Mall).  

The project proposes a single 6-story hotel (69 ft. high) consisting of: a total of 196 rooms; approximately 3,800 square-feet of hotel restaurant space on the ground floor; and three levels of subterranean parking with 196 spaces. Hotel rooms range in size between 320 to 380 square-feet each. Vehicle access would be provided through a driveway on Cypress Avenue, which would lead to the drop-off area and the subterranean parking levels. The proposed amenities include a fitness center, lounge/library area, pool/spa deck, an outdoor courtyard, and a rooftop viewing deck on the 6th floor.

The City requires approvals for Development Review and a Conditional Use Permit. The subject property is currently in the Burbank Center Commercial Limited Business (BCC-2) zone which permits a variety of uses including hotels, restaurants, retail uses, professional offices and services.

ENVIRONMENTAL  REVIEW

The project is subject to environmental review in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act, and the City's environmental consultant prepared an Initial Study/Negative Declaration (ND). The public review and comment period begins on September 28, 2017, and ends on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. The documents can be found below. Printed copies of the ND are also available at the Planning Division counter and all three branches of the Burbank library. 

Due to the time limits mandated by State law, your response must be sent at the earliest possible time but not later than October 18, 2017. Planning Board Meeting

A Planning Board Meeting has been scheduled for this Project. The Planning Board Meeting will take place on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall, located at 275 East Olive Avenue, Burbank CA 91502. The applicant and City staff were present to respond to questions and receive public comments.
