4th of July Pet Safety Tips
The 4th of July holiday can be a very stressful and scary time for your pets. Read the following tips and precautions from the Burbank Animal Shelter to help keep them safe.
Never allow your pets near fireworks as they can easily become frightened or injured.
Keep pets indoors, but avoid leaving them home alone. If you must leave them alone, consider securing them inside a soft pet crate.
Turn on the television or radio to drown out any noise created by the fireworks.
Make sure your pet(s) are wearing identification at all times. Residents may get their pet(s) microchipped at the Burbank Animal Shelter during normal business hours.
If your pet(s) is especially nervous, consider consulting a veterinarian who may elect to prescribe tranquilizer medicine to keep them calm.
If your pet becomes lost, call your local animal shelter immediately. Create a lost pet report and check local shelters during normal operating hours.
