Burbank PD Community Bulletin: National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
The Burbank Police Department joins agencies across the nation this week, as we celebrate (Dispatchers) National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Here at Burbank PD, we honor the employees who staff our Communications Center 24/7, 365 days a year.
The Burbank Police Department Dispatchers are the first and most critical point of contact our citizens have with emergency services. They work closely with our officers, other police agencies, fire, and medical personnel.
Dispatchers are knowledgeable and highly trained individuals, who are the professional calm voices behind the scenes. They ensure resources are sent to help those in need while providing officers with critical information to respond safely.
Dispatchers make split-second decisions affecting responses to emergencies every day. It takes a special person to be a dispatcher – someone who is compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to public service.
Burbank City Council honored our Communications Operators with a formal proclamation declaring April 9-15 as “National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week” in the City of Burbank. This was presented at the City Council meeting on April 4, 2023.
The Burbank Police Department honors and thanks our dispatchers for all they do to keep us safe, and to keep the public connected with emergency services and first responders.
