Burbank PD News Release: Critical Incident Debrief Video
Burbank, CA (December 10, 2024) – The Burbank Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on October 26, 2024. The investigation has determined that this officer-involved shooting was the result of an unintentional discharge of the involved officer’s duty weapon.
On October 26, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Burbank police officers were looking for a stolen vehicle believed to be driving within the city limits. Shortly after 1:00 a.m., police officers on patrol saw the vehicle, a white Ford Econoline van, near Buena Vista Street and Vanowen Street.
Police officers initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the van at the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Victory Boulevard. During the traffic stop, the officer-involved shooting occurred.
The Burbank Police Department has produced a Critical Incident Debrief Video, intended to provide an overview of the incident, supported by body-worn and in-car camera video footage. The video also provides information about evidence related to the case to provide a better understanding of what occurred.
