Burbank Police Department News Release: Stabbing Investigation Update
Burbank, CA (June 22, 2023) – A man has been arrested for attempted murder following a late-night stabbing that left one person hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2023. At about 11:00 p.m., an employee of Wendy’s, located at 1575 North Victory Place, called the Burbank Police to report a man standing in the drive-through lane claiming to have been stabbed. The first police officers to arrive found the victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim told officers he and the suspect were both homeless. The two had an argument which turned physical when the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times.
The victim is a 52-year-old man who was treated at the scene by officers and Burbank Fire Department Paramedics before being transported to a local hospital. The victim is still in the hospital listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Multiple officers responded to the area and searched for the suspect but did not locate him.
Investigators worked vigorously on all leads related to this incident, which included canvassing the area for evidence and collection of surveillance video.
On June 22, 2023, at about 8:30 a.m., Burbank Police officers located the suspect near Buena Vista Street and Victory Boulevard. The suspect was placed under arrest and officers located a knife in his possession.
The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Artash Gasparian, a transient. Mr. Gasparian was booked for attempted murder, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Mr. Gasparian is being held in lieu of a $1,000,000.00 bail and is due to appear in court on June 26, 2023.
Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
