City of Burbank and Burbank Police Foundation Honor Fallen Officer Matthew Pavelka with Memorial Plaque and Flagpole
Burbank, CA (November 8, 2023) – November 15, 2023, marks the 20th anniversary of Burbank Police Department’s Fallen Officer Matthew Pavelka’s End of Watch. In unison with the City of Burbank, the Burbank Police Foundation will hold a commemorative ceremony at Johnny Carson Park to unveil a plaque and flagpole in memory of Officer Pavelka’s ultimate sacrifice.
26-year-old Matthew Pavelka, a United States Air Force Veteran, was appointed as an Officer for the City of Burbank on August 5, 2002. Officer Pavelka served as a Police Officer for only ten months before being tragically killed in the line of duty on November 15, 2003. He is remembered for his dedication to serving and protecting the residents of Burbank.
"As we pay tribute to Officer Matthew Pavelka, we reflect on his extraordinary courage and unwavering dedication, hallmarks of his tenure in the Air Force and his service with the Burbank Police Department,” said Burbank Police Chief Michael Albanese. “This plaque and flagpole symbolize his deep commitment and sacrifice, a legacy that will undoubtedly guide and inspire future generations."
