Implementation of New Parking Management Strategies for Downtown Burbank Will Begin in Spring 2025

Burbank, CA (January 27, 2025) – On November 19, 2024, and November 26, 2024, the Burbank City Council unanimously adopted an ordinance and resolution to implement new parking management strategies for Downtown Burbank. These strategies aim to improve access for the millions of visitors to Downtown Burbank’s businesses by managing parking demand for some of the City’s most popular parking spaces.

Starting in Spring 2025, drivers will pay to park at 145 on-street curb parking spaces along San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Angeleno Avenue, as well as the side streets on either side of San Fernando between First Street and Third Street. The hourly parking fee will be set to ensure that drivers always have at least one or two parking spaces available on each block at any time, making it easier to find a parking spot. The parking fee will be set at $2.00 per hour, and will be charged between 8:00 AM and midnight, seven days a week.  All parking revenue will be reinvested back into Downtown Burbank to help maintain the public parking structures and lots.

After this program's implementation, Downtown Burbank will still have 5,500 free public parking spaces available at various parking structures and lots, as seen in this map.

The purpose of these parking management strategies is to ensure Downtown Burbank visitors can reliably find convenient parking within walking distance of their destination; increase access to businesses by ensuring turnover of parked cars; and reduce emissions and lessen traffic congestion caused by drivers circling in search of parking. To achieve these objectives, the parking management strategies include establishing a new parking fee for the most convenient and popular on-street curb spaces that encourages parking turnover, provides all-day availability of spaces for short-term parking, and shifts long-term parking to parking garages in Downtown Burbank.

The launch date for the new paid street parking will be announced soon with outreach and education. For more information about parking and to view the parking map, please visit the City website.
