FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Northbound I-5 Burbank Blvd Off-Ramp in Burbank to be Closed from May 14 to May 24 for Construction
10-Day Closure is for Construction of New Ramp
BURBANK — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to temporarily close the Northbound I-5 off-ramp to Burbank Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday, May 14, to 6 a.m. Monday, May 24, due to construction.
The 10-day closure will allow crews to construct a new off-ramp and will expedite construction of the new I-5 Burbank Boulevard Bridge and new concrete pavement, which are part of the I-5 HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle, or carpool lanes) project in Burbank.
This week, Caltrans also canceled a set of 55-hour weekend lane and ramp closures that were tentatively scheduled starting tonight (Friday, May 7) through Monday, May 10, in Burbank and Glendale. These closures were canceled due to the completion of the work last weekend. Another full weekend operation with 55-hour closures will be announced in the near future.
When the Northbound I-5 Burbank Boulevard off-ramp is closed, motorists can use the next off-ramp at Empire Avenue/San Fernando Boulevard, or the previous off-ramp at Olive Avenue.
Signs are posted to inform motorists about the ramp closure and detour to the Empire Avenue/San Fernando Boulevard exit.
Times, dates and locations of closures are subject to change due to weather or operational reasons.
Updates and more information are available on the project’s website My5LA.com and on Twitter at @My5LA or https://twitter.com/my5LA
Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
