Overnight Road Closures for Front Street Protected Bikeway Project Construction
Burbank, CA (May 10, 2024) – Please be informed that Front Street, between First Street and Burbank Boulevard, will undergo approximately two weeks of intermittent overnight construction from Sunday, May 19, 2024, through Monday, June 3, 2024, (with a break in work for the Memorial Day Holiday) to install the Front Street Protected Bikeway Project. Although there will be intermittent street closures during this period, closures will be staggered to enable the I-5 freeway Ramps on Front Street to remain open through all phases of construction.
Street closures will occur during the following dates and times:
• 9:00 PM Sunday, May 19, to 5:00 AM Monday, May 20
• 9:00 PM Monday, May 20, to 5:00 AM Tuesday, May 21
• 9:00 PM Sunday, June 2, to 5:00 AM Monday, June 3
Vehicle access will be maintained at all other times with traffic control procedures in place. Bus transit access will also be maintained between Downtown Burbank and the Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station.
As a priority project under the Complete Our Streets Plan, the Front Street Protected Bikeway will provide east-west connectivity for bicyclists between the Downtown Metrolink Station and Downtown Burbank. Construction will consist of striping, signage, bollards, and concrete k-rail barriers. It will also connect to the future LaTerra Select (777 Front St.) development's sidewalk-level Class IV Bikeway and the Burbank Bridge.
