Burbank PD News Release: Pedestrian Struck By Train

Burbank, CA (May 24, 2024) – An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train early this morning. 

On May 24, 2024, at around 5:50 a.m., Burbank Police officers responded to the railroad crossing at Buena Vista Street and Vanowen Street following a report of a pedestrian being struck by a Metrolink passenger train. The individual was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The train, which was traveling south at the time, slowed to a stop following the collision. There were no reported injuries to passengers on the train.

Burbank Police detectives, Metrolink officials, a Los Angeles County Coroner investigator, and members of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs’ Department responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and notification to next-of-kin.

The investigation is ongoing.
