Reopening Youth and Adult Recreation Sports Safety Guidelines
Burbank, CA (February 26, 2021) - Earlier this week, the State announced new guidance allowing for all outdoor youth and adult recreational sports, including moderate contact and high contact sports, to resume practice, training and competitions in counties where the case rate is at or below 14 cases per 100,000 population.
The revised protocols cover all youth and adult recreational sports; schools, city leagues, and private clubs, requiring all to adhere to the safety measures in the protocols.
Since L.A. County’s adjusted case rate is now at 12.3 cases per 100,000, the Burbank community will begin to see sport teams on City fields as early as Monday, March 1, 2021.
Under the current State and County guidelines, the City of Burbank’s Park and Recreation Sports office anticipates youth and adult league play to return in May 2021 for the start of the summer season.
Offered sports will include youth and adult softball and baseball. Team registration is intended to open mid-March. Opportunities to get out on the fields continue to be available through the Department’s Skills & Drills program. More information on that program can be found at www.burbankparks.com.
The City of Burbank Park and Recreation Department continues to place its priority in keeping the community safe. A full list of LA County sports and guidance can be found at www.publichealth.lacounty.gov.
