Food Donation

Finding where to donate edible food has gotten a lot easier now that Burbank is partnering with the food donation app, Careit

The CAREIT logo above four smart phones; the CAREIT app is displayed each screen.

Careit is a digital food donation marketplace that matches any type of business with extra edible food to a nearby nonprofit.

There you will find a cohesive network of edible food generators, nonprofits, municipalities, and volunteers collaborating efficiently to make edible food donation easy as well as easy to track.

HOW IT WORKS

First of all, it’s free for Burbank businesses and non-profits!  Download the Careit app and login to post available food donations. Nonprofits reserve the donations and complete the donation by entering the final weights.

Tracking & Compliance:  Businesses on the app can view a tile list of all of their donations including the name and contact of the food recovery organization, type of food, date of donation, and quantity of food donated, and a running tally of weights of all donations posted in the past day, week, month, year, or all time. Careit will auto-generate a written agreement between every food recovery organization and business that posts and rescues food on the Careit app. The written agreement is available for download on the user’s profile through their online dashboard at https://careit.com

Explore our Local Food Recovery Organizations List (PDF) to discover options in the City of Burbank. These organizations may accept your edible food donations, and we encourage you to contact them directly to initiate a donation program.
